Photo Finish Skin Without Makeup

I know everyones ultimate goal is to feel comfortable in their own skin without makeup, but the harsh reality is, that as we get older or skin just doesn’t look as good as it used to. I had amazing skin in high school but during the end of my senior year into college and even a part of grad school I struggled with some acne and scaring. Then into my mid 20s I had clear skin again for the most part. My BIGGEST skin issue has always been enlarged pros, especially the skin next to my nose and around the cheeks.

I think I have achieved what I would like to think of as my ideal skin. I have gone though a lot of face products in general and I think I have finally found the combination that works for me. I am hoping that by changing products you can also achieve skin you want. Also, my routine is NOT difficult. I personally don’t have time for a 30 minute two times a day skin routine. This picture was taken at night without a filter after I washed my face. As you see the pores on my face have shrunk, If I can find a better before picture of my skin I will upload it. As you can see the picture on the right shows my enlarged pores (this was about 2 years ago)- my skin didn’t have acne but it just looks dull and sad. The picture on the right is my current skin without anything on it. First I am going to go over some obvious way you can modify your life to make sure your skin is glowing, then I will go over the products I use on a daily basis (or periodically) to achieve this skin.

  1. Healthy Diet: Consume a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and antioxidants. Nutrient-dense foods contribute to overall skin health.
  2. Adequate Hydration: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. Hydration is crucial for maintaining elasticity and promoting a radiant complexion. I try to drink at least 80 oz of water daily.
  3. Adequate Sleep: Ensure you get enough quality sleep. Lack of sleep can contribute to skin issues such as dullness and dark circles. Your girl needs her sleep. I probably sleep 8-10 hours per night.
  4. Regular Exercise: Physical activity promotes blood circulation, which can contribute to a healthy complexion. Just be sure to cleanse your skin post-workout to remove sweat and prevent breakouts. I honestly notice changes in my skin when I stop working out.
  5. Stress Management: Chronic stress can take a toll on your skin. Incorporate stress-reducing activities such as meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises into your routine. It is no joke that stress causes blemishes!
  6. Limit Alcohol Intake: Excessive alcohol consumption can negatively impact your skin’s health. Moderating alcohol intake can contribute to a healthier complexion because obviously alcohol is dehydrating, so imagine the impacts on your skin.

This is MY FAVORITE product ever, my husband and I have been using it few months now and it is literally amazing. His face has completely cleared up and I think the is what is the #1 contributor to shrinking my pores. This paired with the resurfacing facial wash makes a great combination to achieve smooth skin and reduce pore size (both products are linked).

The next product that I swear by is a product that pretty much remove that layer of dry dull dead skin every time you put it on. It was a jelly like texture, there is nothing exfoliating in it but it is magic. It is the deep sleep overnight cleanser. It is put on at night, I put is on after washing my face and using the pad. As you put it on it drys on your face, and if you keep rubbing you can sloth off excess skin, kind of satisfying, kind of gross. Or you can just wear it overnight like a normal person and when you wash your face in the morning you can feel the difference. I would have to say I agree with these statistics. You just have to try it and find out for your self.

During the day I barley wear makeup anymore. I usually do sunscreen and bronzer for my daily look. I use the Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40, this is a primer + sunscreen. I follow it up with the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer, it is made from 100 percent real cocoa powder, free of  parabens and phthalates and cruelty free. I like to wear something like this for daily wear knowing it doesn’t damage my skin, although the Supergroop sunscreen is NOT that good.

Lastly something I use on the daily (or at least a few times a week) is this Elemis Superfood sleeping cream, but I don’t use it at night. Since I have a solid nighttime routine, I actually use this during the day. I sometimes put it on after my sunscreen, or if I’m home and not going anywhere I wear this alone all day without any sunscreen or makeup. It also smells amazing. This product is a Prebiotic cream that leaves dry, thirsty skin feeling silky soft, radiant and replenished with moisture.

Honestly, skincare is hard, it requires routine to see benefits but it is something that you can accomplish if you put your mind to it. Plus, if you see the fruit of your labor pretty quickly if you put your heart to it. I also want to try other products in the Elemis line over time, I have yet to be disappointed in the line.

Dyson Airwrap vs. Revlon One-Step Volumizer

I have both tools, and today I am going to break down the biggest pros/cons with the two tools. I have had the Dyson Airwrap for about 2 years and the Revlon for a few weeks. I purchased the Revlon after using my sisters a few times.

The Dyson Airwrap is a popular hair styling tool that has gained attention for its innovative design and advanced features.

Pros:

1. Versatile Styling: The Dyson Airwrap offers a range of styling options, allowing you to curl, wave, smooth, and add volume to your hair. Its interchangeable attachments provide versatility for various hair types and styles, giving you the freedom to experiment and create different looks.

2. Gentle on Hair: Unlike traditional heat styling tools, the Dyson Airwrap uses a unique technology called the Coanda effect, which creates a high-velocity jet of air to attract and wrap hair around the barrel. This minimizes heat damage, making it a suitable choice for those concerned about hair health.

3. Time-Saving: The Airwrap combines multiple styling steps into one tool, eliminating the need for separate curlers, straighteners, or volumizers. With its efficient airflow and quick styling, you can achieve salon-like results in less time, making it convenient for individuals with a busy lifestyle.

4. Intelligent Heat Control: The Airwrap comes with intelligent heat control, which measures the temperature of the airflow to ensure it doesn’t exceed the recommended level for hair. This feature protects your hair from excessive heat exposure, reducing the risk of damage.

Cons:

1. Expensive: One of the major drawbacks of the Dyson Airwrap is its price tag. It is a high-end hair styling tool, and the cost may be prohibitive for budget-conscious consumers. However, for those who value advanced technology and are willing to invest, the Airwrap offers value in terms of performance and durability.

2. Learning Curve: Mastering the technique of using the Airwrap can be challenging initially. It requires practice to wrap the hair around the barrel correctly and achieve desired results. Some users may find it difficult to get accustomed to the tool’s unique handling. When I first got the tool- I was able to do one side with no issues, while I struggled with the other side.

3. Limited Hair Length: The Airwrap is designed for medium-length to long hair. Users with shorter hair may find it less suitable, as the attachments may not work effectively or provide the desired styling options. It is important to check compatibility before purchasing.

4. Noise Level: The Airwrap operates with a powerful motor that produces a noticeable noise while in use. Although it does not affect performance, some users may find it louder than traditional hair styling tools.

The Revlon One-Step Volumizer is a popular hair tool that combines the power of a hairdryer and a styling brush, aiming to simplify the hair styling process.

Pros:

1. All-in-One Styling: The Revlon One-Step Volumizer combines the functions of a hairdryer and a styling brush into a single tool. This eliminates the need for using multiple tools simultaneously, streamlining the styling process and saving time.

2. Volume and Smoothness: The unique oval-shaped brush design and the powerful airflow of the One-Step Volumizer work together to add volume and smoothness to the hair. It can transform flat or lifeless hair into a voluminous and bouncy style with minimal effort.

3. User-Friendly: The ergonomic design of the One-Step Volumizer makes it easy to use, even for those who are not skilled in hairstyling. The brush handle is comfortable to hold, and the placement of buttons and controls is intuitive, allowing for effortless maneuvering.

4. Versatile Styling Options: While the primary function of the One-Step Volumizer is volumizing, it also offers versatile styling options. It can be used to straighten hair, create loose waves, or add flips and curls, providing flexibility to achieve different looks.

Cons:

1. Limited Temperature Control: The Revlon One-Step Volumizer offers limited temperature control options. It typically operates at a high heat setting, which may not be suitable for all hair types, especially those that are prone to heat damage. Users with delicate or fine hair should exercise caution and use heat protectant products.

2. Size and Weight: The One-Step Volumizer is a relatively large and bulky tool compared to traditional hairdryers or styling brushes. Its size and weight may make it slightly cumbersome to handle, particularly for individuals with smaller hands or limited arm strength.

3. Drying Time: While the One-Step Volumizer dries and styles the hair simultaneously, it may require more time compared to using separate tools. The brush’s airflow is not as concentrated as that of a regular hairdryer, so it may take longer to completely dry thicker or denser hair.

4. Limited Precision: The design of the One-Step Volumizer, while effective for overall styling, may lack precision when it comes to targeting specific sections or achieving intricate styles. It may not be the ideal tool for those who require precise control over their hairstyle.

When comparing the Dyson Airwrap and the Revlon One-Step Volumizer, both tools offer unique features and benefits. Let’s analyze them and determine the superior tool.

The Dyson Airwrap excels in its versatility, advanced technology, and hair protection. With its interchangeable attachments, it provides a wide range of styling options, while the Coanda effect minimizes heat damage. The intelligent heat control and time-saving performance make it a top choice for those who value innovation and salon-like results. However, its higher price tag and learning curve can be potential drawbacks.

On the other hand, the Revlon One-Step Volumizer is renowned for its simplicity and convenience. Combining a hairdryer and a styling brush, it offers all-in-one functionality and user-friendly design. It is excellent for adding volume and smoothness to the hair, but it may lack precision and have limited temperature control. Its affordability and ease of use make it appealing to budget-conscious individuals seeking a straightforward styling solution.

Considering these factors, the superior tool ultimately depends on personal preferences and needs. If versatility, advanced technology, and customized styling options are essential, along with a willingness to invest in a higher-priced tool, the Dyson Airwrap may be the superior choice. On the other hand, for those seeking a more affordable, simple-to-use tool that primarily focuses on volume and smoothness, the Revlon One-Step Volumizer could be the preferred option.

It’s crucial to assess your budget, desired styling capabilities, and the importance of additional features like heat protection when making a decision. Both tools have their strengths and weaknesses, so choosing the superior one depends on which aspects align better with your individual requirements.

Personally the Revlon is for my daily use and the Dyson is for when I want to curl my hair.

Kakadu C

It is never too early for one to start thinking about anti-aging. Honestly, I wish I had thought about it sooner. It is easier to prevent wrinkles and aging then reverse it once it happens. One of my favorite everyday face serums is Kakadu C. I love how lightweight it is, and it just absorbs into the skin within minutes of putting it on.

Here are some benefits of Kakadu C:

It is rich in antioxidants: Vitamin C is a very powerful antioxidant which has shown benefits in anti-aging by boosting collagen production.

It has antibacterial properties: which can be beneficial in fighting against pimple causing bacteria.

Fun fact, although I am not going to eat this serum, the kakadu plum has weight loss benefits when consumed daily.

Over all I love this daily serum. I add a few drops into my normal daily moisturizer and apply it to my face.

Long Luscious Lashes

Everyone wants long lashes and thick brows. Mainstream media pretty much makes a girl feel like they are a necessity, and if you are less fortunate in that department then there are always lash extensions and fake daily lashes. I personally have spent hours watching YouTube videos on how horrifying eyelash extension fails can be if you go to the wrong place. There are also so many products that girls use to fill in their brows, but come on, lets be honest. Who doesn’t fill in their brows? I know I do! I’ve been looking for a more permanent answer to thick lashes and brows, and finally I found it: CASTOR OIL!

Kate Blanc Cosmetics

I just ordered mine on Amazon and it came in 2 days! Thank you Amazon Prime! It also came with some mascara wands for easy application. I went with the Kate Blanc Cosmetics brand. They have a vast number of products I want to try, and they also offer free shipping on all orders, I will definitely be ordering direct next time. The most important thing is making sure it is USDA Organic before purchasing the product. This information is available on the labeling and/or the product description. I use the mascara wand to apply the oil on my eyelashes and eyebrows at bedtime after I wash my face. I also went ahead and added a few drops into my mascara. PSA: if you put castor oil into your mascara, it will no longer be waterproof so maybe try it on a sample or travel size mascara.

Here are some of the many benefits of castor oil outside of hair growth:

  1. Treats split ends
  2. Skin moisturizer
  3. Great lip balm that helps with dark lips…I often put it on my lips at bedtime but it has a very strong smell so it occasionally bothers me
  4. Natural anti-aging product…doesn’t hurt to put a drop into your night time moisturizer
  5. Treats dark underarms…I have actually seen this on multiple beauty pages on Instagram
  6. Treats stretch marks
  7. Natural cuticle oil
  8. It can be used as a cooking oil

These are just some of the vast benefits of castor oil. I know you just want to take a castor oil bath and wake up with amazing hair and flawless skin don’t you? Yup, me to!
